Currency: Stonks (⌬)

Stonks (⌬) is the virtual currency used on ChatStonks. It has no real-world monetary value.

  • New users start with ⌬2,000.
  • Virtual economy, no pay-to-win mechanics.

How Prices Work

Stonk prices are driven entirely by a streamer's real performance metrics.

Price = Base Score

Base Score

Each streamer's price starts from a viewer-based value, then gets scaled by four signals:

  • 35% Viewer Score. Current average viewers, scaled against a 100K benchmark.
  • 30% Growth. How much the channel has grown compared to 6 months ago. Growing channels score higher.
  • 20% Consistency. Hours streamed (60%, up to 150h) and days active (40%, up to 22 days) over the last 30 days.
  • 15% Chat Activity. Chat messages per minute, normalized by viewer count.

Hype

Hype is a separate community activity metric shown on each streamer's page. It reflects trading volume and investment interest, but it does not move the price directly.

Trading Basics

Buy and sell streamer stonks to grow your portfolio:

  • Browse streamers and review their metrics.
  • Buy stonks when you believe a streamer will grow.
  • Your first 10 buys are fee-free. After that, a 2% fee applies on buys (no fee on sells).
  • Sell stonks to lock in profits or cut losses.
  • Track your P&L on the dashboard.

Category Indexes

Every Twitch game category becomes a tradeable index fund, weighted by the viewers of ChatStonks creators playing it.

  • A category is auto-listed as soon as a tracked creator streams it.
  • The price is a viewer-weighted average of the creators currently playing.
  • Categories freeze after 48h with no active players, then decay over time.
  • Trade categories just like streamer stonks.
  • Category positions count toward your total portfolio value.

Chat Leaderboard

Compete with other investors for the top spots:

  • Rankings are based on total portfolio value.
  • Earn badges like Diamond Hands (100%+ return), To the Moon (50%+), and Hodler.
  • Your strategies and holdings are visible to others.

Tips for Success

  • Diversify across streamers and categories.
  • Watch for streamers about to go live or run big events.
  • Check the top gainers and losers daily.
  • Follow successful investors on the Chat page.
  • Don't panic-sell during temporary dips.
